Turns Out Family-Separation Architect Stephen Miller Is Still on Mommy and Daddy’s Cell Phone Plan

When Stephen Miller served as a senior adviser in the Trump administration, he worked on a number of initiatives, but perhaps the biggest one was the family-separation policy that tore migrant children from their parents in the name of white supremacy. Those children—some of whom were infants—were subsequently thrown into cages and forced to endure conditions that the American Academy of Pediatrics called state-sanctioned child abuse. Later we learned that the government couldn’t find the parents of 545 separated children, and that Miller personally pushed for the White House to stop the Justice Department from striking a deal to pay for mental health services for the kids the Trump administration had inflicted unspeakable trauma on, many of whom believed their parents had deliberately abandoned them. Anyway, just something to keep in mind in light of some fun new revelations about Stevie-boy.

Former White House senior adviser Stephen Miller filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to block a subpoena for his phone records from the House Select Committee investigating January 6, becoming the latest among dozens of people who have gone to court to protect their information from Capitol Hill investigators. The committee has sought testimony from Miller as well, saying that he spread misinformation around the presidential election and pushed officials to change the results of the election.

According to the lawsuit seeking to block the phone records subpoena, Miller is on a T-Mobile family plan with his parents. While the committee is only seeking records related to Stephen Miller’s phone number, the suit says, Miller is concerned that T-Mobile “may respond to the Subpoena by producing data for other numbers assigned to the Family Plan Account.”

According to Miller, who is 36 years old, the subpoena violates his privacy rights and is overly broad. In his suit, he claimed the request should not be allowed to go forward because the records in question contain personal communications with “medical professionals and family regarding his wife and new-born daughter,” a deeply rich argument given his life’s work from 2016–2020.

According to CNN, T-Mobile notified Miller and those on the family plan that it intended to turn over the records by March 11 unless they sued to block the subpoena.

Miller, of course, is just one of many Trump administration lackeys who have fought the January 6 committee tooth and nail, though perhaps none of the efforts compare to those of Donald Trump, who has taken his attempt at a cover-up all the way to the Supreme Court. Maybe this is a topic he and his parents can discuss over their next meal together, after his mother cuts his food for him and his father gets him to eat his broccoli by pretending the fork is an airplane.

A maternity and children’s hospital in the city of Mariupol has been hit by a Russian air strike, Ukraine says. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said people were trapped under the wreckage, and called on Western leaders to impose a no-fly zone. He also posted footage apparently from inside the hospital, which appeared badly damaged. A regional official told Ukrainian media that at least 17 people were injured, including staff and patients.

The Mariupol city council said the strike had caused “colossal damage,” and published footage showing burned out buildings, destroyed cars, and a huge crater outside the hospital. The BBC has verified the location of the videos. “We don’t understand how it’s possible in modern life to bomb a children’s hospital. People cannot believe that it’s true,” Mariupol deputy mayor Serhiy Orlov told the BBC.
