Recovering from the mental health impact of COVID-19 will be the topic of a Wayne County Women’s Commission summit, which takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 31 and will be live-streamed via Zoom.
Some of the many impacts of the pandemic on women include its effect on child care availability, divorce rates, substance abuse and domestic violence.
The summit, entitled “My Struggle is Your Struggle,” will feature a panel discussion featuring a diverse group of female mental health professionals.
As the name suggests, the summit is designed to provide a safe space for women to learn, grow and begin healing together, as they navigate through hardships the pandemic has created or worsened.
“Too often, women don’t know how to deal with the impact of COVID-19 on their lives or where to go to get help,” said Wayne County Commission Chairwoman Alisha Bell (D-Detroit). “This summit is designed to help provide those answers and I hope women throughout Wayne County and our region will participate.”

The Wayne County Women’s Commission was created by Bell in 2021 to address issues pertaining to women and advise commissioners. It includes a diverse group of 22 women from throughout the county.
